LAHORE,Jan 3 (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 03rd Jan, 2017 ) : Provincial Minister for Forests, Wildlife and Fisheries Mian Yawar Zaman has said that government is determined to modernise the Forest Department and effective measures have been taken to turn it into a self-sufficient body.
He said in future while preparing working manual regarding tree plantation, cost of project and earning of revenue after its completion should be a part of the project. He expressed these views while talking to the media at his office here on Tuesday.
The minister said a comprehensive strategy had been evolved to decide inquiries pending since long and corrupt officers would be taken to their logical end.
He expressed his determination to make the department corruption-free.
He said about two crore 40 lakh saplings were planted every year under Monsoon and Spring Tree Plantation campaigns but he had come to know that it was against facts. He said that he would tour the whole province and check saplings planted during plantation campaigns.
Mian Yawar Zaman said that saplings being planted under tree plantation campaigns should also be checked through Geographic Information System and if any malpractice or irregularity was found, stern action should be taken against those responsible.
