ASTORE, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 20th Feb, 2018 ) :The district Water and Power department will soon launch an operation against power defaulters and illegal connections in the area. The officials said the drive was being started following reports and complaints of illegal connections by domestic and commercial users of the utility.They added that no one would be allowed to take law into own hands by using power illegally.
They maintained several warnings were issued to all those hotel owners who did not pay their monthly bills with direction to clear dues, otherwise, their power connections would be disconnected.
They also urged people to come forward and make collective efforts for preventing power pilferage in the area. The officials said a permanent end could be put to the power load-shedding in the area as a result of such practice and stern measures, but long-pending dues and practice of illegal connections were undermining such efforts.
As a result, all people including those were regular payers and judiciously consuming power facility had to suffer, they added. They informed in winters the water level decreased in channels, which also negatively affect production by power houses and people had to witness outages.
They were of the view the particular problem could also be resolved by saving electricity, if consumers started using power judiciously. He suggested that people should not use heavy electric appliances as geysers, heaters. He also appealed people to identify those households that were involved in power pilferage by using kunda (hook).
