Pakistan Awaits Early Ratification From China On Transfer Of Sentenced Prisoners

Pakistan on Thursday said it had completed its side of ratification process on the 'Treaty of Transfer of Sentenced Prisoners' with China and was awaiting completion from the Chinese side

ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 23rd May, 2019 ) :Pakistan on Thursday said it had completed its side of ratification process on the 'Treaty of Transfer of Sentenced Prisoners' with China and was awaiting completion from the Chinese side. Foreign Office Spokesman Mohammed Faisal at a weekly press briefing here said the matter had been taken up with the Chinese government at highest level for early ratification of the Treaty.

"The Chinese side has informed that they are completing internal process for ratification," the Spokesman said in response to a question regarding delay in the implementation of Treaty, which was signed during Prime Minister Imran Khan's first visit to China in November 2018.

The Spokesman said Pakistan completed the ratification process in early January 2019 and had conveyed China side to complete its formalities."Pakistan will continue to raise this issue in future as well with Chinese side at all levels," he said.
