Pakistan Can Change Weekly Holiday To Friday

The decision can be taken in view of Pakistan’s trade relations with Arab countries that have Friday as their weekly off.
Islamabad (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 18th February, 2019) As Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman is in Pakistan on two-day visit, several trade agreements between the two countries have been signed.
In view of this, the Pakistani government is considering to change the weekly off to Friday instead of Sunday.
According to media reports, the decision can be taken in view of Pakistan’s trade relations with Arab countries that have Friday as their weekly off.
The move will be aimed at strengthening business and trade relations with the Arab countries, especially with Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
As Pakistan observes its weekly holiday on Sunday and Arab countries have their off on Friday, its affects the business activities between these countries.
Pakistan and Arab countries only get to have their business exchanges on four week days, including Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.
This disrupts the business activities between the countries.
Mohammed bin Salman is in Pakistan on two-day visit as he started his tour of South Asia and China on Sunday.
The Saudi Crown Prince was accorded rousing and warm welcome on his arrival in Pakistan. Prime Minister Imran Khan and his Cabinet received the Saudi Crown prince and his high-powered delegation at Nur Khan Airbase.
Riyadh and Islamabad signed agreements worth $20 billion were signed during the visit of Mohammed bin Salman to Pakistan.
Seven bilateral agreements, mostly energy-related, were signed the presence of the crown prince and Prime Minister Imran Khan.
In particular, the parties signed an agreement on the supply of oil and oil products from Saudi Arabia, as well as MOUs on development of oil refining and petrochemistry, electricity and renewable energy sources in Pakistan.
