Prime Minister Stresses For Resolving Rising Tension In Gulf Through Diplomatic Engagements

Prime Minister Imran Khan Friday stressed that every effort should be made to resolve the rising tension in the Gulf within the framework of international law and through diplomatic engagement
He said Pakistan was prepared to use its friendly relations in the region to help lower tensions among brotherly countries, and promote peace and stability in the region.
The prime minister was talking to Iranian Foreign Minister Dr Javad Zarif, who called on him here. The foreign minister conveyed the best wishes of Iranian leadership to the prime minister, adding that the recent visit of the prime minister to Iran had greatly strengthened the bonds of friendship between the two countries.
As regards the regional situation, the prime minister expressed concern over rising tensions in the Gulf. He underscored that war was not a solution to any problem.
Further escalation in tensions in the already volatile region was not in anyone's interest. All sides needed to exercise maximum restraint in the current situation.
Imran Khan expressed satisfaction over excellent bilateral relations between Pakistan and Iran. He underscored that early implementation of various decisions reached during his visit to Iran would further enhance cooperation in all areas.
Views were exchanged on facilitating movement of people and Zaireen (pilgrims) through opening of new border points and promoting local trade activities by establishment of new border markets, besides issues related to beefing up security along the Pakistan-Iran border.The prime minister expressed the hope that the two neighbours would develop a vibrant relationship in political as well as economic domains.
