ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 31st Jan, 2018 ) :The Prime Minister Youth Program (PMYP) has facilitated around 1,116,206 youth during four years across the country contributing its share in socio-economic development.
The chairperson of Prime Minister Youth Programme (PMYP), Ms.Leila Khan on Wednesday said," The Prime Minister�s Youth business Loan Scheme covered over 20,499 deserving candidates and an amount of Rs.
20.52 billion was disbursed. The 95 per cent cases were entertained by National Bank of Pakistan (NBP) and recovery rate of the scheme was 91 per cent, she added. Ms.Leila khan said the prime focus of this scheme was to provide country�s youth financial assistance to make them independent entrepreneurs and contribute in national economy.
The scheme also helped curtail poverty and was also generating additional employment, she added. Under PM�s Youth Skill Development Programme 100,000 male and female have so far been trained in more than 100 demand-driven trades across the country.
A 25-30 per cent of the total seats are reserved for female students. Seminaries� students and disabled youth were also part of this scheme. Another 100,000 youth would be imparted training during 2018-19 under Phase-IV and Rs.
6.2 billion was approved by Executive Committee of National Economic Council (ECNEC) in 2017, she added.
She told that under Prime Minister�s Fee Reimbursement Scheme Rs. 6.8billion have been released from 2012-17. The number of beneficiaries under this scheme is 199,559.�Initially it was started in Balochistan later it covered all other less developed areas of the country ",she added.
Around 300,000 laptops have been distributed among talented students under PM�s Program for Provision of Laptops to Talented Students. Moreover, 401,120 people had so far received interest free loans under PM�s Interest Free Loan Scheme amounting to Rs.
9.5 billion.The 64 percent were the female borrowers and recovery rate was 99 percent,she added. She informed that 95,028 total interns were placed under phase I and II in different organizations to provide them basic necessary training to enter a field of their on choice.
Under the PMYP different schemes ,Ms.Leila Khan said were meant to enabling poor get good employment opportunities, impart training to educated youth and alleviate poverty for prosperous Pakistan.
