Punjab Chief Minister Orders Action Against Sugar Mills For Not Starting Crushing

Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar Wednesday directed to initiate action against sugar mills which had not started crushing season despite clear instructions by the provincial government.
Necessary instructions have been issued to the relevant departments as well as the Cane Commissioner in this regard.
The chief minister said that no one would be allowed to exploit the sugarcane farmers. Sale of sugarcane on fixed rates would be ensured, he said and added that sugar mills would be bound to procure sugarcane from the farmers at the rates fixed by the government.
Usman Buzdar said that an indiscriminate action would be initiated on the complaint of cut in weight, adding the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government was protecting the interests of farmers' community.
He said that interests of the sugarcane farmers would not be compromised and the farmers would be given the reward of their hard work, the chief minister concluded.
