SC Adjourns Review Appeals Regarding Demotion Of Out-of-turn Promoted

ISLAMABAD, Nov 8 (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 08th Nov, 2016 ) : The Supreme Court on Tuesday adjourned hearing of the review appeals regarding demotion of out-of-turn promoted police officers on court orders till November 16.
A five-member larger bench of the apex court headed by Chief Justice Anwar Zaheer Jamali heard the review appeals filed by different police officers against their demotion by the department on apex court orders.
During the course of proceedings, Syed Ali Zaffar, counsel for different police officers, informed the court that many demoted police officers were affected by the court decision.
The counsel for Punjab government told the court that the apex court announced verdict according to Sindh Services Rules Section 9 A while in Punjab Section 8 A implied for the promotion of police officers.
The court after short hearing issued notices to Attorney General for Pakistan and all four provincial advocate generals and adjourned the case.
