SC Dismisses Pre-arrest Bail Plea Of Accused Involved In Fraud

ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 23rd Sep, 2021 ) :The Supreme Court on Thursday dismissed the bail before arrest plea of Sarfraz Sadiq involved in fraud.

Sarfraz Sadiq was accused of cheating public at large in a Rs 20 million scam. The Police arrested him as soon as he stepped out of the court premises following dismissal of his bail.

A three-member SC bench comprising Justice Sardar Tariq Masood, Justice Amin-ud-Din Khan and Justice Jamal Khan Mandokhail heard the pre-arrest bail plea filed by accused Sarfraz who committed fraud in the name of money exchange. The court rejected the bail for submitting fake documents of a Norwegian court.

During the course of proceedings, the bench was informed that the accused, a resident of Islamabad, got Rs 20 million from citizens in the name of money exchange and fled to Bahrain.

The counsel for the petitioner said that the Sessions Court granted interim bail to accused Sarfraz while the Islamabad High Court had dismissed the bail plea. The accused challenged the IHC order in Supreme Court, he added.

The court after hearing arguments maintained the IHC order and dismissed the bail plea.
