The Real Heroes: Polio Workers Lauded For Working In Extreme Weather Conditions

Pakistan continues its fight against polio and the infectious disease is likely to be eliminated from the country by the end of this year.
Islamabad (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 14th January, 2019) The pictures of two polio workers doing their duty in extreme weather conditions is going viral on social media.
In the pictures, the polio workers are seen in snowy Chitral with their vaccination kit as they are on their duty.
The Chitral Valley is engulfed with snow and extreme cold weather these days. Despite such weather conditions, the polio workers are committed to their work and are on their way to vaccinate a newborn against polio in a remote Gobor valley of Chitral.
A hero is definitely someone who has given his or her life to something bigger than oneself.
Pakistan continues its fight against polio and the infectious disease is likely to be eliminated from the country by the end of this year.
Not only the Pakistani government, the World Health Organisation (WHO) has also intensified its activities in coordination with the government of Pakistan for polio eradication.
WHO's enhanced focus on public health, country-level impacts, ongoing programmes and projects in Pakistan are aimed at improving people's access to health related matters.
Collaborative efforts at national, provincial and local levels would help eliminate the disease and make Pakistan a zero polio country.
The government remains committed to ensure provision of quality health facilities to people at all levels.
