Usman Buzdar May Extend Nawaz's Parole

Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar was authorized under the law to extend parole of a prisoner beyond twelve hours.

LAHORE, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 12th Sep, 2018 ) :Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar was authorized under the law to extend parole of a prisoner beyond twelve hours.

A Punjab Home Department source told APP on Wednesday, the provincial Home department, under the Pakistan Prisons Rules 1978, could permit any well-behaved prisoner to attend the funeral of his blood relation and the duration might not exceed twelve hours depending on the circumstances of the each case.

The official said in the Nawaz Sharif, Maryam Nawaz and Capt (R) Muhammad Safdar's parole case, the Home Department granted twelve hour parole.

He said owing to the extraordinary circumstances as Late Begum Kalsoom Nawaz's body was to be flown in from London, an extension was needed in the parole period.

He said the chief executive of the province could permit the extension in parole period beyond twelve hours.
