VC For Equipping Youth With Skills Vital For Socio-economic Development

HYDERABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 26th Apr, 2019 ) :The Vice Chancellor University of Sindh Prof. Dr. Fateh Muhammad Burfat has announced to provide an all-out research-based educational environment on the campus in order to bring the varsity at par with the world's leading universities which had been focusing on quality research and invention.
He said that research and invention played a major role in bringing about changes in society and the university students needed to revamp the social order by getting pragmatic knowledge as well as professional skills through higher education.
The VC stated this while talking to deans, directors and chairpersons of different faculties, centers and departments of the varsity during his visit to the campus to review and observe the ongoing semester examinations' process at the Allama I. I. Kazi campus Jamshoro. The Registrar Ghulam Muhammad Bhutto and Dean Faculty of Social Sciences Prof. Dr. Zareen Abbasi were also accompanying with the vice chancellor.
Dr. Burfat said the university was providing quality education to students and its graduates were utilizing their specialties for development of the province and the country. He urged the students to take benefit from educational facilities the varsity is providing in various fields of natural sciences, social sciences, humanities, business, banking, law, art and culture.
Highlighting the achievements of the university and its future plans, Dr. Burfat said that the dilapidated roads of the university had been repaired, as many as 30 thousand saplings had been planted to beautify the campus, examinations results had been made available on the varsity's website for the facility of students as well as their parents and the attendance system had been modernized and computerized.
He said the parents could view the performance of their progeny by logging on to the varsity's website adding that it was the best way for parents to keep check and monitor the attendance and results of their children without taking any trouble to visit the teachers.
Dr. Burfat made it clear that no student with low attendance had been allowed to appear in the semester examinations. "We are taking these initiatives for the improvement and advancement of educational standard on the campus", he maintained.
He said that no students having short attendance than 75 percent in next semester would be allowed to appear for the semester tests. "We have started tremendous efforts for improving the quality of education at the university and ensuring the significance of the higher education, he informed.
He also urged the deans, directors, chairpersons and faculty members to mentor students for future challenges and work on improving methods of teaching.
The Vice Chancellor emphasized on equipping youths studying on the campus with skills in order to focus on for socio-economic development. "We need to teach our children to be international citizens as we know for sure that the challenges they will face would be of global character," he said.
Earlier, the VC went around classrooms of Institute of English Language and Literature, Institute of Business Administration and various departments Sociology, Economics, International Relations, Public Administration, Criminology, Islamic Studies, Muslim History, Sindhi and Arabic and inquired from the students about questionnaires and their preparation for the papers. He mingled with the students and advised them to solve their papers with full concentration and peace of mind.
