Vehicle Token Tax Through Online To Start Soon: Says Director Excise

Excise and Taxation (E&T) department has moved a proposal to Interior Ministry and Finance division, for approval of draft agreement executed between the department and National Bank of Pakistan (NBP) to make the vehicle token payment online
The proposal, that was about to be approved, would able the vehicle owners to make their token payment via NBP or through E-banking, the director E&T Bilal Azam told APP on Thursday.
Azam said an online interface had setup between the Pakistan Post and E&T department for token tax collection of vehicles having Smart Card registration book to save the time of motorists.
"It was another step towards, transparency that the payment made at those postal authorities can be reconciled in a real time," he said.
To a query, he said, over 7000 applicants were visiting E&T department for payment of token tax on daily basis, adding, around 1.4 million vehicles have been registered so far with the department.
