Voter dies of heart attack in polling station

The voter had gone to cast his vote in PP-184, Okara

Lahore (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 25th July, 2018) In a rather sad incident that surfaced on polling day, a voter died of heart attack in the polling station in Okara.

According to media reports, the voter had gone to cast his vote in PP-184, Okara when his health deteriorated in the polling station. The voter passed away due to a sudden cardiac arrest.

Earlier, a woman assistant presiding officer fell unconscious in NA-222’s polling station 367. The presiding officer said that the woman had fainted due to kidney pain.

Polling across the country is being held today for general elections 2018. Polling began at 8am in the morning and will conclude at 6pm in the evening.

The nation will elect 270 members of the National Assembly and 570 members of all the four provincial assemblies for the next five-year term today.

Around 105.95 million eligible voters – 59.22 million male and 46.73 million female – will exercise their right to vote to mark another democratic transition from one elected government to another.

About 1,1673 candidates are vying for 270 national and 570 provincial assemblies seats.

The Election Commission of Pakistan has established 83,307 polling stations across the country, of which 17,000 have been declared sensitive. Some 23,424 polling stations are for males and 21,707 for females, besides 40,133 combined polling stations and 43 improvised polling stations have been set up.
