Pakistan Hockey Team Leaves For Dhaka To Participate In Asia Cup

PESHAWAR, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 22nd Sep, 2016 ) : Pakistan hockey team left for Dhaka, the capital city of Bangladesh to participate in the forthcoming Boys Under-18 Asia Cup Hockey Tournament to be commencing from September 24-30, 2016.
It was the fourth edition of the Asia Cup wherein Pakistan after relatively a better show against a recently concluded home series against Oman Under-18, are expected to give better result. Junaid Mansoor, hailing from a remote village of Bahawalpur is named as captain while Moeen Shakeel from Lahore will be his deputy.
Pakistan will face Chinese-Taipie in the first match to be played on September 24, followed by other matches including on September 25 will face China and after a rest on September 26 will clash against Hong Hong (China).
The two Semi Finals will be played on September 29 and the final on September30. Seven teams will be fighting for the continental crown in this youth category, including hockey giants Pakistan and India, two teams that must be considered the strong favorites in this event in the absence of Korea and Malaysia.
Pakistan is placed in the group-B with China, Chinese-Taipei and Hong Kong (China) while the pool-A including India, Oman and Bangladesh. The team comprising:- Goalkeepers: Waqar Younis & Adeel Rao.
Fullbacks: Amjad Ali, Rizwan Ali & Waqas Ahmad Halfbacks: Junaid Rasool, Moin Shakeel (Vice Captain), Adil Lateef & Junaid Manzoor (Captain) Forwards: Awais Arshad, Khairullah, Shahzaib Khan, Ahmad Nadeem, Ali Aziz, Afraz, Waqar Ali, Naveed Alam & Abdullah Babar.
Kamran Ashraf, a former center forward Olympian will act as manager and head coach while Mudassar Ali Khan is the coach of the team with other members comprising Video Analyst Asim Abbasi, Team Doctor: Mohammad Adnan.
