Stockdale double gives Irish lead over Scots at half-time

Jacob Stockdale's two tries gave Grand Slam hopefuls Ireland a 14-3 lead over Scotland in an engrossing Six Nations clash at Lansdowne Road on Saturday.

Dublin, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 10th Mar, 2018 ) :Jacob Stockdale's two tries gave Grand Slam hopefuls Ireland a 14-3 lead over Scotland in an engrossing Six Nations clash at Lansdowne Road on Saturday.

The 21-year-old whose tally of six tries in the tournament makes him the only Irishman to achieve that in a Five/Six Nations campaign -- intercepted Peter Horne's long pass to run in and touch down in the 22nd minute -- Johnny Sexton converting.

Stockdale also struck in extra-time outfoxing Blair Kinghorn to touch down -- Sexton doing the honours from wide out with the conversion.

Scotland had taken the lead through a Greig Laidlaw penalty.

Ireland need to beat Scotland and then champions England next week for only their third Grand Slam. They could even seal the title -- their third under head coach Joe Schmidt since he took over after the 2013 edition -- later on Saturday if they secure a bonus point win and England fail to match that against France in Paris.
