MOSCOW (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 23rd January, 2019) About 30 people were detained during protests in one of the districts of the Venezuelan capital of Caracas, local media reported on Wednesday.
Detentions were made late on Tuesday evening during a protest in the municipality of Libertador, El Nacional newspaper reported, citing sources.
According to the source, Venezuelan National Guard servicemen used tear gas to disperse the crowd, and then opened fire on the protesters.
"It seemed like they killed one person, his name is not yet known, and took about 30 detainees with them," an eyewitness to events told the news portal.
Earlier, media reported that the protests have already killed two people, two more were injured.
Late on Tuesday, protests against President Nicolas Maduro began in various cities of Venezuela. Later in the day, marches of opponents of the authorities, and supporters of the incumbent president are planned. According to local media, two people were already killed and another two were injured in the protests.
