African Union To Participate In Russia-Africa Forum In October - AU Peace Commissioner

Representatives of the African Union will take part in the Russia-Africa forum set to take place in the Russian resort city of Sochi in October, African Union's (AU) Peace and Security Commissioner Smail Chergui said on Monday
ADDIS ABABA (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 11th February, 2019) Representatives of the African Union will take part in the Russia-Africa forum set to take place in the Russian resort city of Sochi in October, African Union's (AU) Peace and Security Commissioner Smail Chergui said on Monday.
"I know that this year Russia envisages organizing a first Africa-Russia summit, so we are going to join this effort because we think that Africa is open to all partnerships on the basis of mutual respect," Chergui said during a press briefing at the 32nd AU summit.
According to the Roscongress Foundation, the upcoming Russia-Africa summit will be attended by the heads of African states and representatives of Russian, African, and international business and government agencies as well as integration associations on the African continent.
The African Union, headquartered in the Ethiopian capital, is a continental union comprised of 55 member states, which aims to achieve regional integration and increase solidarity among all African countries.
