MOSCOW (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 21st January, 2019) The Turkish security forces killed or captured six militants linked to the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) as a result of airstrikes in northern Iraq, media reported on Monday.
The strikes were carried out on Sunday in the regions of Zab, Sinat-Haftanin and Hakurk, the Anadolu news agency said, citing the defense ministry.
The air raids also destroyed the militants' shelters and weapons depots.
The militants reportedly plotted attacks against Turkish military bases.
PKK is officially listed as a terrorist organization in Turkey. The Turkish government has been fighting the group, seeking to establish a Kurdish autonomy in Turkey, since the early 1980s.
Turkish security forces carry out regular anti-PKK raids across the country and fight the group in border areas in Iraq and Syria.
