ATHENS (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 22nd March, 2019) The Greek Foreign Ministry said on Friday that the overnight hand grenade attack on the Russian consulate in Athens would not affect the relations between the two nations.
Assailants on a motorbike threw the explosive into a guard booth outside the consular office of the Russian embassy early on Friday, causing slight damage. No one was hurt.
"The traditional and centuries-old friendship and cooperation with Russia will not be affected by such unlawful and utterly reprehensible act," the ministry said in a statement.
The Greek Foreign Ministry has condemned the attack and promised to take all necessary steps to investigate it and bring those responsible to justice. Athens police have told Sputnik they had found a burned bike, which could have been used as a getaway vehicle.
