Attack On US Forces In Syria Sends Message, Retreat To Expand Islamic State - Congressman

WASHINGTON (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 16th January, 2019) The terrorist bombing in Manjib, in which US service members were killed, comes as a warning to the United States that retreating from the anti-terror mission in Syria or anywhere else will only help the Islamic State terror group (banned in Russia) recruit more fighters, US Congressman Adam Kinzinger said in an interview on Wednesday.
The US military reported that some US forces were killed in the attack, with details to come later. Kinzinger referred to the attack in a CNN interview as "the mess of war.
"
"Retreating from a fight against ISIS [Islamic State] is only gonna send the wrong message and frankly, pour fuel on the recruiting efforts of ISIS," Kinzinger said.
In December, President Donald Trump announced that about 2,000 US ground forces in Syria would be withdrawn within a month.
Trump administration officials have reportedly succeeded in modifying the withdrawal timetable by warning that the Islamic State is not being defeated, despite losing 99 percent of territory the terror group previously ruled in Syria and Iraq.
