MOSCOW (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 20th April, 2019) A national referendum on amendments to the Egyptian constitution will be held on April 20-22.
The amendments envisage increasing the president's term from four years to six, creating an upper house of parliament, which is currently unicameral, and granting the president the right to appoint vice presidents.
The referendum is held after the Egyptian parliament passed by a majority vote a bill on changes to the constitution.
The voting at the referendum will be monitored by the judiciary branch officials and the representatives of the Egyptian and foreign non-governmental organizations and the media.
