Embezzlement Case Opened Against Ex-Russian Minister Abyzov - Investigators

A criminal case has been opened against former Russian Open Government Minister Mikhail Abyzov, Russian Investigative Committee spokeswoman Svetlana Petrenko said Tuesday
"The Main Directorate for Investigation of Particularly Important Cases of the Russian Investigative Committee has initiated a criminal case against former Russian Open Government Minister Mikhail Abyzov, who in the period from April 2011 to November 2014, being the beneficiary owner of a number of offshore commercial organizations, created and headed a criminal community," Petrenko said.
According to the investigation, acting in complicity with Nikolai Stepanov, Maxim Rusakov, Galina Fraidenberg, Alexander Pelipasov and Sergey Ilyichev, by deceiving shareholders of two energy companies in the Novosibirsk region, Abyzov stole 4 billion rubles ($62 million) from the firms.
