The fight against the Islamic State (ISIS, banned in Russia) terrorist organization did not end when the group lost control of its last stronghold in Syria over the weekend, but rather the battle will evolve going forward, US Special Representative for Syria James Jeffrey said on Monday

WASHINGTON (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 26th March, 2019) The fight against the Islamic State (ISIS, banned in Russia) terrorist organization did not end when the group lost control of its last stronghold in Syria over the weekend, but rather the battle will evolve going forward, US Special Representative for Syria James Jeffrey said on Monday.

"This is not the end of the fight against ISIS. That will go on, but it will be a different kind of fight. ISIS has lost much of its capability to project terrorist power and to have a recruiting base in an area that it controls," Jeffrey told reporters during a press briefing.
