TBILISI (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 17th December, 2018) The Georgian opposition movement Strength is in Unity will continue protests in the country demanding early parliamentary election, one of the opposition leaders and former presidential candidate Grigol Vashadze said on Monday.
"We confirm our demands. From Tuesday, we will start non-stop protests and continue to demand holding early parliamentary election in Georgia by proportional party lists," Vashadze said at a press briefing.
He also demanded punishment for anyone responsible for falsification of the recent presidential election results.
The protests erupted in Georgia after the second round of the presidential election that was held on November 28. The election was won by Salome Zourabichvili, who gained 59.52 percent of the vote, while Vashadze got only 40.48 percent. The latter refused to recognize the results of the election, claiming that hundreds of thousands of votes had been bought, and called for snap parliamentary elections.
Zourabichvili's inauguration took place on Sunday in the city of Telavi.
