Israel Successfully Tests Arrow 3 Missile System - Defense Ministry

Israel on Tuesday successfully carried out another tests of its Hetz 3 (Arrow 3) long-range anti-ballistic missile system, capable of intercepting ballistic missiles in space, the Israeli Defense Ministry said

TEL AVIV (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 22nd January, 2019) Israel on Tuesday successfully carried out another tests of its Hetz 3 (Arrow 3) long-range anti-ballistic missile system, capable of intercepting ballistic missiles in space, the Israeli Defense Ministry said.

"The tests were conducted at the site in the central part of Israel under the guidance of the Israel Aerospace Industries company and with the participation of the Israeli Air Force ... After the planning stage, the missile was fired, successfully performing its task," the ministry said in a statement.

The latest testing is an important milestone in the development of the missile system, which has entered service in the Israeli forces two years ago.

The Hetz 3 is a system that intercepts ballistic missiles during the space-flight portion of their trajectory, including intercontinental ballistic missiles (ICBMs) carrying nuclear, chemical, biological or conventional warheads. The reported flight range of the Hetz 3 missile is up to 1,500 miles and may be used as an anti-satellite weapon.
