Mattis, Brazil's Defense Chief Discuss Enhancing Rapid Response Capabilities - Pentagon

WASHINGTON (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 14th August, 2018) US Defense Secretary James Mattis and Brazilian Defense Minister Silva e Luna during a meeting in Brasilia discussed expanding military cooperation and improving responses to security challenges, Pentagon Chief Spokesperson Dana White said in a press release.

"The leaders agreed to continue� focusing on interoperability, expanding shared capabilities and bolstering the ability to respond rapidly to a variety of security challenges," White said on Monday.

Chief of Brazils Joint Staff Adm. Ademir Sobrinho and the Brazilian Service Chiefs were also in the meeting during which they reaffirmed the long-standing defense relationship between the two countries, White added.

Mattis, who is currently on his first trip to South America as US defense chief, is also scheduled to visit Argentina, Chile and Colombia this week.
