MOSCOW (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 22nd January, 2019) No passengers or crew members were hurt in a failed attempt to hijack an Aeroflot plane on a domestic flight on Tuesday, the Russian flagship air carrier reported.

"The flight SU1515 from Surgut to Moscow made an emergency landing at the airport of Khanty-Mansiysk due to an attempt to hijack the plane. The suspected hijacker was detained.

None of the passengers and crew were injured in the operation," Aeroflot said in a statement.

"Aeroflot's backup plane has been sent to Khanty-Mansiysk to transport the freed passengers," the statement said.

According to the statement, Aeroflot's own security service and technical services have been put on high alert, and all planes are passing thorough security pre-flight checks following the incident.
