The Norwegian Prime Minister Erna Solberg said on Thursday that Russia could launch cyberattacks against the country during the upcoming NATO Trident Juncture-2018 military exercises.
MURMANSK (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 20th September, 2018) The Norwegian Prime Minister Erna Solberg said on Thursday that Russia could launch cyberattacks against the country during the upcoming NATO Trident Juncture-2018 military exercises.
Norway will hold the exercises between October 25 and November 7, with a total of around 40,000 troops from 31 countries participating in the event.
"We have to take into account the fact that Russia or any other country may want to test us, using fake news and cyberattacks during the autumn NATO exercises," Solberg said as quoted by the NTB news agency.
She added that the country's armed forces and Police Security Service were ready for hybrid actions and called on the citizens to be wary of possible cyberthreats.
In recent years, Russia has been repeatedly accused of carrying out cyberattacks against other countries, including the United States, France, the United Kingdom and Germany, attempting, in particular, to influence the results of elections. Moscow refuted all such claims, calling them unfounded.
