Putin, Abe to Hold One-on-One Talks at EEF, Sign Set of Documents - Ushakov

Russian President Vladimir Putin and Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe will have a bilateral at the Eastern Economic Forum, discuss the peace agreement and the situation on the Korean peninsula, a package of documents is expected to be adopted, Russian presidential aide Yuri Ushakov said Wednesday.

MOSCOW (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 05th September, 2018) Russian President Vladimir Putin and Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe will have a bilateral at the Eastern Economic Forum, discuss the peace agreement and the situation on the Korean peninsula, a package of documents is expected to be adopted, Russian presidential aide Yuri Ushakov said Wednesday.

"In the beginning, there will be a ... one on one meeting, then negotiations in the delegations, then a working dinner, signing ceremony of joint documents and a joint statement for the media, but at the request of the Japanese side without questions," Ushakov said.

"Naturally, the leaders will touch upon the issues of the peace treaty.

We proceed from the premise that an atmosphere of trust and cooperation is necessary for the signing of the peace treaty and for this it is necessary to continue to develop bilateral contacts and cooperation in the most diverse areas ... Joint economic activity on the Kuril Islands will be discussed, here the coordination of road maps relating to the implementation of projects in five areas is underway," the aide said.

He stressed that the leaders would also discuss the situation on the Korean peninsula and in the whole Asia-Pacific region.
