MOSCOW (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 23rd October, 2018) Saudi Foreign Minister Adel Al Jubeir pledged on Tuesday that the kingdom would take all the necessary measures to ensure that incidents similar to the murder of opposition journalist Jamal Khashoggi would never repeat.

"Necessary measures will be taken to ensure that what happened is not repeated," the minister said as quoted by the Al Arabiya broadcaster.

The minister reaffirmed that the kingdom would conduct a comprehensive investigation into the case, adding that all those involved in the journalist's murder would be detained.

Khashoggi, known for his criticism of Saudi policies, has recently been working as a columnist for The Washington Post. The journalist was last seen entering the Saudi consulate in Istanbul on October 2.

Following more than two weeks of denials, Saudi Arabia admitted on Friday via state television that the journalist had been killed in a fight inside the consulate. According to Riyadh, 18 people have been arrested over their involvement in the incident.
