US National Security Adviser John Bolton said on Tuesday that the Russian-Turkish agreement on demilitarized zone creation in Syria's Idlib province is being implemented, although there are many unresolved issues remaining.
MOSCOW (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 24th October, 2018) US National Security Adviser John Bolton said on Tuesday that the Russian-Turkish agreement on demilitarized zone creation in Syria's Idlib province is being implemented, although there are many unresolved issues remaining.
"With respect to Idlib, we discussed it at, I think, every meeting that I had. I reiterated what [US] President [Donald] Trump has said about the significance of avoiding a humanitarian catastrophe there, about the resumption of hostilities, the agreement between Russia, Syria and Turkey is holding for now, although there remains .
.. a large number of unresolved issues, and, perhaps most importantly, Idlib is obviously only one piece of the Syrian conflict, which is incredibly complicated," Bolton told reporters at a press conference after his meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Moscow.
Last month, Russia and Turkey agreed to establish a demilitarized zone in Idlib by October 15. Then it was reported that more time would be given for the implementation of their agreement.
