Russian Federal Security Service (FSB) Neutralizes Group of IS Members Plotting Attacks in Stavropol - Statement

The Russian Federal Security Service (FSB) neutralized a group of IS (Islamic State terror group, banned in Russia) militants who opened fire at law enforcement officers upon arrest in the Russian city of Stavropol, the FSB said in a statement on Wednesday.

MOSCOW (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 19th December, 2018) The Russian Federal Security Service (FSB) neutralized a group of IS (Islamic State terror group, banned in Russia) militants who opened fire at law enforcement officers upon arrest in the Russian city of Stavropol, the FSB said in a statement on Wednesday.

"Upon being arrested, the militants opened fire on the special forces of the FSB. The members of the international terrorist organization Islamic State were neutralized by response fire. There are no victims among the FSB officers," the statement said.

The militants had been charged with "setting up a terrorist organization" and "illegal possession of weapons."
