Russian Land Force Received 2,200 Types of Modern Weaponry in 2018 - Defense Minister

The Russian army's ground forces received 2,200 types of modern weaponry this year, Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu said on Tuesday.

MOSCOW (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 18th December, 2018) The Russian army's ground forces received 2,200 types of modern weaponry this year, Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu said on Tuesday.

"The objective to increase the share of modern weaponry in the ground forces is overfulfilled by 2.3 percent.

This figure has reached 48.3 percent. The troops received 2,200 types of new and modernized weaponry," Shoigu said at a Defense Ministry board meeting.

Russia is currently carrying out a large-scale rearmament program, announced in 2010, to achieve a 70-percent modernization of its military hardware by 2020.
