MOSCOW (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 18th March, 2019) UK Foreign Secretary Jeremy Hunt said on Monday that the United Kingdom is in contact with the Netherlands over the morning shooting in the Dutch city of Utrecht.

On Monday morning, a gunman opened fire on a tram outside Utrecht's city center. The police said that multiple people had been injured and did not rule out terrorist motives behind the shooting.

The Sky News reported later in the day that the police confirmed that at least one person was killed in the incident.

"Hugely concerning news of a gunman opening fire on a tram in Utrecht, no doubt with innocent people just getting on with their day. We are in contact with Dutch authorities, urgently seeking further information. The UK stands with the people of the Netherlands," Hunt wrote on Twitter.

The suspect is still on the run. Investigation into the attack is underway.
