UK Foreign Secretary To Visit Iran On Monday - Reports

MOSCOW (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 18th November, 2018) UK Foreign Secretary Jeremy Hunt will visit Tehran on Monday, November 19 to hold talks with his Iranian counterpart Minister Javad Zarif, the Mehr news agency reported on Sunday.

According to the publication, the parties intend to discuss bilateral relations and the situation around the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) on the Iranian nuclear program.

The upcoming trip will be the first Hunt's visit to Iran since he took the office.

In May, US President Donald Trump announced the US withdrawal from the Iran nuclear deal, which triggered the re-imposition of sanctions against Iran, previously lifted under the agreement.

Two rounds of sanctions have been reintroduced since then, with the large-scale restrictions covering oil exports being slapped on Iran on November 5. However, eight countries � China, Greece, India, Italy, Japan, South Korea, Taiwan and Turkey � were granted temporarily waivers. At the same time, the United States is planning to eventually introduce sanctions against all imports of Iranian oil.
