UN Security Council Rejects Russia-Sponsored Resolution On Venezuela

UNITED NATIONS (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 01st March, 2019) The United Nations Security Council rejected on Thursday a draft resolution put forward by Russia to reaffirm the right of President Nicolas Maduro's government to coordinate aid deliveries to the Latin American country.

Four countries voted in favor of the resolution, while four others abstained and 15 other council members rejected it.
Moments earlier, the Security Council also struck down a US-backed proposal calling for fresh elections in Venezuela.
