MOSCOW (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 24th January, 2019) Vietnam does not have specific information about timing or venue of the upcoming summit between US President Donald Trump and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un, the Vietnamese Foreign Ministry said Thursday.
Last week, Trump discussed with North Korean Vice Chairman Kim Yong Chol bilateral relations and progress on denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula during the latter's visit to the United States. After the meeting, White House Press Secretary Sarah Sanders said that Trump would hold his second summit with Kim Jong Un in the end of next month.
"We believe in our ability to organize such kind of events after our success in hosting the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) in 2017 ... [Vietnam is] yet to have specific information on the time and venue for the second U.S.-North Korea summit," the ministry's spokeswoman, Le Thi Thu Hang said, as quoted by the VnExpress newspaper.
The first meeting between Trump and Kim took place in June in Singapore. At the landmark talks, the two sides expressed their commitment to the denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula.
