LAHORE, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 20th Nov, 2017 ) :Oracle Corporation will support Lahore College for Women University (LCWU) in becoming smart university and achieving thus its vision 2050.
Irfan Shehzad, Director South Asia & Pakistan, Oracle Funded Agency & Government business called on Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr Uzma Qureshi in her office and briefed initiatives for mutual programs for capacity buildings, technological trainings and funded projects.
Leadership of both institutions discussed details of alliance in this regard. Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr Uzma Qureshi appreciated the contribution of Oracle and approved to initiate phase-I in the Campus immediately.
VC said that LCWU would be developed into a "Smart University" as Higher education Commission of Pakistan (HEC) would provide WiFi blanket across the campus. This project will extend the existing wireless facilities of the University.
Vice Chancellor added that University has a total of 14094 students enrolled and management was going to issue them smart cards.
This would help them to obtain vouchers and pay their dues online.
Parents will get SMS alert regarding university attendance. Dr Uzma Qureshi said that universities should be roll model in adopting technology and innovations. Paper free culture can save resources at institutions.
LCWU will facilitate multinational companies to introduce latest technologies in all departments, She added. Oracle Corporation is an American multinational computer technology corporation. The company specializes primarily in developing and marketing database software and technology, cloud engineered systems and enterprise software products - particularly its own brands of database management systems.
In 2015, Oracle was the second-largest software maker by revenue, after microsoft. The company also develops and builds tools for database development and systems of middle-tier software, enterprise resource planning (ERP) software, customer relationship management (CRM) software and supply chain management (SCM) software.
