FAISALABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 20th Mar, 2018 ) :It is a matter of grave concern that pharmaceutical industry research in natural products has declined in the last decade. This was stated by experts at the inaugural session of a workshop on 'Bioassays for exploration of bioactive', arranged by the Department of Biochemistry, University of Agriculture, Faisalabad (UAF) at Science Block on Tuesday.
The session was chaired by Faculty of Sciences Dean Dr Muhammad Asghar while Chairman Department of Biochemistry Dr Khalilur Rehman, Dr Muhammad Shahid, Dr Amir Jamil and others also attended the session.
Addressing the session, Dr Muhammad Asghar Bajwa said that it was a need of the hour to train youths with powerful cutting-edge techniques that would enable them to tackle the challenges in research.
Chairman Department of Biochemistry Dr Khalilur Rehman said that Biochemistry Department since 2015 had produced 886 MSc, 444 MPhil, and 86 PhDs. He said that the faculty had received four Research Productivity Awards.
