APDP Releases Calendar Featuring Agony Of Disappearances

The Association of Parents of Disappeared Persons (APDP) released 2019 calendar that documents the stories of disappeared persons in Partap Park, in Srinagar

ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 16th Jan, 2019 ) :The Association of Parents of Disappeared Persons (APDP) released 2019 Calendar that documents the stories of disappeared persons in Partap Park, in Srinagar.

According to Kashmir Media Service (KMS), the copies of the calendar were distributed in presence of the APDP Chairperson, Parveena Ahangar and several members of the Association.

Speaking on the occasion Ahangar said, "We will send this calendar to the universities and colleges outside the state as well so that people come to know what has happened in the occupied territory." Reiterating her demand Ahangar said if disappeared persons have been killed their mortal remains should be handed over to their heirs. "Nearly three decades have passed, but there is no trace of these persons," she said.

The calendar documents the stories of disappearances, with each month's page carrying a photo of a person, disappeared in that month. APDP says over 8,000 people have disappeared, mostly in the custody of the forces in the past three decades in Kashmir. The calendar distributed by APDP at Partap Park in Srinagar on Tuesday documents the stories of disappearances, with each month's page carrying a photo of a person who disappeared in that month.

"We will send this calendar to the universities, colleges. Students and people from outside buy these calendars. India says nothing has happened here. It hurts us deeply. Nearly three decades have passed, but there is no trace of these disappeared persons," said Parveena Ahangar.

When the calendar was released at Pratap Park in Srinagar, there was no one to seek whereabouts of Abid Hussain Dar, a teenager from Narwara Eidgah area of Srinagar. "Abid's mother Hamida Parveen died in 2012 after a long struggle of searching for his whereabouts," said APDP Chairperson Parveena Ahanger. As per APDP, Dar went missing in forces' custody stationed at Kathua in Jammu, while he had gone there on a school trip in 1996.

For Safiya Azad, not a day has passed without remembering her husband Humayon Azad, who as per APDP went missing after he was taken away by Border Security Force from Mahjoor Nagar area of Srinagar in spring of 1993
