Writers, Scholars Urge Int'l Community To Take Notice Of Human Rights Violation In IOK

Writers and scholars at special event organized by Pakistan Academy of Letters (PAL) on Thursday urged the international community, particularly scholars and writers to take notice of gross human rights violation and humanitarian crisis in Indian Occupied Kashmir (IOK).
PAL has organized special a program titled, "Izhar-e-Yakjehti Rooh-e-Azadi Kashmir", aiming to express solidarity with Kashmiri brethren, said a news release.
Ghazala Saifi, Parliamentary Secretary for National History and Literary Heritage Division and member the Parliamentary Committee on Kashmir was specially attended the ceremony.
Director General National Language Promotion Department (NLPD) Iftikhar Arif presided over the programe.
The event was graced by Prof. Dr. Maqsood Jaffery as the chief guest. Eminent poets and poetess recited their poems in various national languages of Pakistan. The proceedings were conducted by Mehboob Zafar.
Eminent scholars including Dr. Ihsan Akbar, Wahid Bakhsh, Arshad Mahmood Nashad, Asghar Abid, Anjum Khan, Manzoor Wiser, Iqbal Hussain Afkar, Javed Ahmed, Naseem Sehar, Ali Ravish, Dr. Rifat Abbas, Nusrat Yar, Manzar Naqvi, Salman Sindhi, Imran Hami also attended the event.
Iftikhar Arif said that all the scholars of Pakistan support right of self-determination of Kashmir. He strongly condemned India sectarian based atrocities in IOK.
He appealed United Nations and other human rights organizations to take notice and stop India from the human rights violation. He stressed on the world community to protest for restoration of fundamental rights of the people of Kashmir.
Iftikhar Arif said that Indian government announcement to revoke special state of Kashmir was serious violation of human rights as it granted a level of autonomy to the region.
Addressing the participants, Ghazala Saifi said the government was raising voice for people of Kashmir at all world forums.
She said Prime Minister Imran Khan would attend United Nations General Assembly as an Ambassador of people of Kashmir and to raise voice for their rights.
She said that despite all these atrocities the spirit of Kashmiris were still high and would not avoid any sacrifice for their freedom. She said that Indian Supreme Court has also recently issued directives to lift curfew and restore routine life in IOK.
Parliamentary Secretary said that European Parliament has recently debated on Kashmir and expressed concerns over the human rights violations in the Occupied Kashmir. She said that Modi criminal face was exposed in all over the world.
Prof. Maqsood Jafri said Indian Prime Minister was Hitler of present time, adding that he was racist and extremist Hindu mint set. He said Modi has laid the foundation of breaking India into pieces.
He said that Modi at same time carried atrocities against Muslim and Sikh and other minorities within India.
Earlier, in his opening remarks, Director General PAL Dr. Rashid Hamid welcomed the participants and particularly scholars who travelled from across the country to attend the event.
He said that more events and seminars would be organized by PAL in coming days on Kashmir.
