Twelve Teams To Compete For Six Nad Al Sheba Sports 2019 Futsal Qualifying Spots

DUBAI, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News / WAM - 21st Feb, 2019) The Organising Committee of the Nad Al Sheba Sports Tournament conducted the draw for this year’s Futsal and Volleyball qualifying tournament at the Dubai Sports Council on Thursday.
Held under the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of Dubai Sports Council, the Nad Al Sheba Sports Tournament is the biggest event of its kind in terms of participation and prize money. The tournament is organised by Dubai Sports Council.
It is held every year in the Holy Month of Ramadan since 2013 and almost 25,000 athletes have taken part in the competition over the past six years. Last year, more than 5,000 athletes took part in the Nad Al Sheba Sports Tournament, which saw competition in 11 different sports. The tournament also went international in 2018 with a five-a-side futsal competition taking place in the Egyptian capital, Cairo, and an eight-team volleyball tournament in Amman, Jordan.
Emirates Driving Institute won the Futsal title in 2018, defeating Al Bahri 3-2 on penalties following a thrilling 5-5 draw. The two finalist will get a bye into the main draw of NAS 2019 Futsal and will be joined by six teams from qualifying.
There are 12 teams taking part in the Futsal qualifiers, which be held at the Al Manara Indoor Sports Hall in Umm Suqeim from 26th-28th February. The Beach, Victory, Al Theyaba, Al Shabab, Shabab Al Ain, Dubai Team, Tolerance Team, Al Jawareh, Surprise, Al Abqari, Al Hajal and Al Wataniya (National).
In the volleyball qualifiers, which will be held at Nad Al Sheba Sports Complex from February 25 to March 6, there are seven teams taking: Dubai 2021, Royal, Bin Thani, Surprise, Zabeel, Fohood Zabeel and Al-Burkan - and the top five teams from the qualifiers will join 2018 champions in the main draw.
