8 Killed, 596 Injured In Road Accidents In Punjab

Eight persons were killed while 596 sustained injuries in road accidents in all districts of Punjab during the last 24 hours

LAHORE, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 22nd Jan, 2019 ) :Eight persons were killed while 596 sustained injuries in road accidents in all districts of Punjab during the last 24 hours.

The Punjab Emergency Service (PES), commonly known as Rescue 1122, responded to 505 road accidents in all 36 districts of Punjab. As many as 354 seriously injured were shifted to different hospitals while 234 with minor injuries were provided treatment on the spot.

Further analysis showed that 279 drivers, two underage drivers, 63 pedestrians and 254 passengers were among the victims of the road accidents.

The statistics showed that 113 road accidents were reported in Lahore which affected 128 persons, placing the provincial capital at top of the list, followed by 50 in Multan with 56 victims and Faisalabad at third with 32 accidents and 49 victims.

According to the data, 389 motorbikes, 95 auto-rickshaws, 56 motorcars, 33 vans, four passenger buses, 17 trucks and 79 other types of vehicles and slow-moving carts were involved in these accidents.
