ISLAMABAD, Nov 9 (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 09th Nov, 2016 ) : Minister for Planning, Development and Reforms Ahsan Iqbal on Wednesday called on the youth to pursue Allama Iqbal's philosophy of self-belief as a guiding principle for their success as well as for prosperity and economic uplift of the country.
Addressing a ceremony here at Ministry of Planning and Development to commemorate the 139th birth anniversary of great poet Allama Muhammad Iqbal, the minister paid tribute to the great thinker.
The event was organized by the Young Development Fellows working in the Ministry of Planning and Development in order to highlight the responsibilities of youth in national development under the vision of the great poet.
Ahsan Iqbal said a poet of the stature of Iqbal was born in centuries and the nationa would have to act on his vision for achieving the goal of nation building and economic prosperity.
He said the youth could make their future bright by adopting the principles of Iqbal regarding 'self-ego, positive thinking and urge for knowledge'.
He advised the youth to acquire modern and innovative knowledge for transforming Pakistan into a developed and prosperous country as envisaged by Quaid-i-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah and Allama Iqbal.
Iqbal's philosophy and vision had laid a foundation for the movement to achieve a separate homeland for the Muslims of South Asia, he added. Pakistan, he said, came into existence due to the "sacrifices rendered by our forefathers and it is now our duty to offer similar sacrifices for the development of the country." Speaking on the occasion, Professor Fateh Muhammad Malik said both the Quaid and Iqbal through their thoughts had opposed capitalism and feudalism.
