Bilawal Bhutto Hits Back At PM Imran On ECL Controversy

Islamabad (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 17th January, 2019) Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has hit back at Prime Minister Imran Khan over his tweet against politicians contesting their Names being placed on the Exit Control List (ECL).
Referring to Imran Khan as ‘selected PM’, Bilawal in his tweet wrote, “Obviously selected PM doesn’t understand the concept of human rights or freedom of movement.”
“Funny it’s only the opposition members on ECL, government members are busy travelling. Including PM who despite promising not to travel for 1st 6months has made more than 7 trips so far!” he added.
Prime Minister Imran Khan had earlier in the morning taken a jibe at the politicians criticising their names being placed on the ECL.
Taking to Twitter on Thursday, the prime minister said, “Why are some of our lawmakers so scared of the ECL? Why are they so keen to go abroad?”
“There is so much work to be done by politicians in and for Pakistan - the land they claim to love but some cannot wait to take frequent trips abroad and lawmakers have Iqamas or residencies abroad,” he added.
The main leadership of Pakistan People's Party (PPP), including Asif Ali Zardari, Faryal Talpur and Murad Ali Shah were placed on the ECL for their alleged involvement in the fake accounts case.
The money reportedly went from Murad Ali Shah to Omni Group then to the PPP leaders and billions of rupees were spent on buying of properties in Dubai and London.
The report of Joint Investigation Team (JIT), formed to probe the case, recommended 172 names for putting on the ECL which was approved by the Federal cabinet.
The Supreme Court directed the federal cabinet to review the names.
However, the federal cabinet turned town the recommendation of the Interior Ministry to remove names of twenty persons from the ECL in the fake bank accounts case.
The Cabinet decided to constitute a committee including State Minister for Interior Shehryar Afridi, Minister for Law Farogh Naseem and Special Assistant to PM on Accountability Shahzad Akbar to further look into the matter.
