Competence To Be Sole Criterion: Punjab Governor

Punjab Governor Chaudhry Muhammad Sarwar said competence will be sole criterion in the posting of officers and no incompetent will be preferred to the competent.
LAHORE, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 23rd Oct, 2018 ) :Punjab Governor Chaudhry Muhammad Sarwar said competence will be sole criterion in the posting of officers and no incompetent will be preferred to the competent.
Addressing a 65-member delegation of the 109th National Management Course (NMC), led by the Rector, National school of Public Policy (NSPP) Azmat Ali Ranjha at the Governor's House here on Tuesday, he said gone were the days when officers were appointed out of merit while favouritism was rule of the day, adding that Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf (PTI) government would do away with the decades-long practice.
Dean NMC Dr Shujat Ali Khan was also present on the occasion.
Punjab Governor said civil officers were valuable asset of the country and they were instrumental in implementing public policies, adding that prosperity and prestige of the country should be the only priority of the civil officers and they must utilize their energies to achieve this.
Sarwar said change trickles from top to the bottom, adding that change should be as vivid as dispensation of justice.
He said a common man should not feel awed by the civil officers rather he should feel himself in the company of a family member.
He said PTI government would implement its manifesto in letter and spirit, adding that rule of law would be ensured at any cost. He said majority of the civil officers were honest, dedicated and hardworking and the PTI government expected them to implement government's policies with truthfulness for the common good of the masses.
Punjab Governor Ch Sarwar said the government believed in transferring powers to the grass-root level, adding that amendments were being made in Local Government (LG) system in order to empower village council while 30 percent funds from the development budget would be allocated for the village Councils.
Ch Sarwar said the government wished the institutions to be empowered, while supremacy of law will be ensured in letter and spirit.
