Country's Far Flung Areas To Have 4G Services By 2018, NA Told

State Minister for Information Technology and Telecommunication, Ms Anusha Rehman Thursday informed the National Assembly that Pakistan would be the first country in South Asia to have 5th generation cellular services for fast connectivity
ISLAMABAD (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 17th Aug, 2017 ) : State Minister for Information Technology and Telecommunication, Ms Anusha Rehman Thursday informed the National Assembly that Pakistan would be the first country in South Asia to have 5th generation cellular services for fast connectivity.
Answering the questions of legislatures in National Assembly during the question hour, she said the government has already directed Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) to do necessary preparations in this regard.
Most of the far flung areas of the country would have 4g services by end of 2018. To a question she said mobilink and warid have been merged into one entity. As a result of said merger all licensed obligations of Warid are to be complied by Mobilink.
Warid had deployed LTE technology prior to merger with Mobilink. Therefore, after the merger the operator is free to operate the said network/ technology.
