Facts To Be Brought Before Public After Full Investigation: Saad Rafiq

KARACHI, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 03rd Nov, 2016 ) : Railways Minister Khawaja Saad Rafiq has said that facts would be brought before the public after full inquiry into the trains' collision near Karachi on Thursday in which 21 people lost their lives.
He was talking to media after visiting the Jinnah Post-Graduate Medical Centre (JPMC) here on Thursday evening after inquiring about the health of the injured. The Minister made it clear that stern action would be taken against those found responsible for the trains' accident.
However, he was of the view that according to the initial investigation the mishap occurred owing to the human error. Khawaja Saad Rafiq said that any financial assistance would not a replacement of the precious human lives.
However, he announced a sum of Rs.
1.5 million to heirs of the each deceased while Rs. 350,000 for each injured. The Minister said that every possible step is being taken for the rehabilitation and development of Pakistan Railways.
He pointed out that the revenue of the Railways has gone up from Rs. 18 billion to Rs. 36 billion during the last three years. Khawaja Saad Rafiq said that Railways' land is also being got vacated from the land mafia.
Earlier, the Minister on arrival in Karachi went straight to the JPMC and inquired about the welfare of those who sustained injuries in Thursday morning's trains' collision near Landhi here. On the occasion, he also met with the heirs of those passengers who died in the mishap and assured them every cooperation on behalf of the Pakistan Railways.
