FESCO Catches 3,060 Power Pilferers

FAISALABAD, Jan 6 (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 06th Jan, 2017 ) : Faisalabad Electric Supply Company (FESCO) claimed on Friday to have caught 3,060 electricity thieves in eight districts during the last six months from July to December 2016.
FESCO spokesman Tahir Sheikh said the raiding teams imposed fine of Rs 100 million on the pilferers. He said cases against 262 power thieves had been registered at various police stations under the new Electricity (Amendment) Act while request for the registration of cases against another 1,471 power pilferers had been forwarded to respective police stations.
The FESCO raiding teams during door to door checking in eight districts of the region - Faisalabad, Jhang, Sargodha, Toba Tek Singh, Chiniot, Mianwali, Bhakkar and Khushab caught more than 3000 consumers involved in power theft through direct line (Kunda System), by broken security strip of the meter and other techniques, he said.
He said cases against power thieves were being got registered under the new electricity amendment act 462-J. APP/asf/ia/zhr/ati
